Animal Portraits in Pastel Pencil

Instructor: Suzann Beck

Create a “head and shoulders” portrait of the animal or pet of your choice with the forgiving medium of pastel pencils—they’re easy to control and easy to layer. Students will learn how to transfer an initial drawing to pastel paper and how to build fur and feather effects in a step-by-step process. Attention will be paid to drawing accuracy and rendering light effects.
