Book Arts 101

Instructor: Erica Spitzer Rasmussen

Learn about the history of books and modern book arts, then learn several simple bookbinding structures. Discover soft-covered sewn bindings like the pamphlet stitch, the chain stitch, and the Japanese stab. And master hard-covered glued bindings like the accordion fold, perfect binding, and petal-fold. You’ll leave with an assortment of small, yet elegant, blank books and instructions to repeat the bindings at home.
