WBCA is seeking a forward-thinking and innovative Technology Arts Specialist & Teaching Artist to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our technology arts programming. This contracted position offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of new technology arts classes, workshops, and projects while collaborating with WBCA staff to ensure we are investing in the right equipment and resources to support our vision. The ideal candidate will have a passion for both teaching and technology, with expertise in areas such as website design, graphic design, digital photography, and emerging digital media.

Teaching Artists are independent contractors.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with WBCA staff to identify opportunities for growth and innovation in technology arts.
  • Lead the development and proposal of new technology arts classes, workshops, and projects that align with the interests and needs of our community.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on the selection and purchase of technology equipment and resources to support proposed classes and projects.
  • Teach engaging and interactive technology arts classes for participants of all ages in areas such as website design, graphic design, digital photography, digital illustration, animation, or other emerging digital media.
  • Explore how technology can enhance WBCA's gallery spaces and exhibitions, contributing innovative ideas and solutions for including digital media and interactive experiences into gallery exhibitions.
Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Extensive experience in technology arts.
  • Previous teaching experience in technology arts or related fields, with an ability to engage and inspire students of all ages.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with WBCA staff to develop and implement innovative programming.

Preferred:

  • Degree in a related field such as technology, design, or education.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program planning.
  • Familiarity with current trends and technology in the arts industry, including software and tools for website and graphic design, along with proficiency in relevant digital media platforms and emerging technologies.
Compensation:
  • Consultancy: Total compensation for consultancy, advising, and program development is $3,000
  • Hourly teaching wage of $35
