Susan Frame
Susan Frame has been playing with ink for over forty years, creating Sumi-e (ink/water) paintings with free-style brushwork. Her work features expressive flowers, landscapes, and abstract interpretations created from ink, pigments, and rice paper. She is a pioneer of vertical calligraphic brushwriting in English, and integrates East Asian materials with her American experiences. She exhibits worldwide, with work included in museum and corporate collections. She is a painter, a poet, a published author, and a teacher.
“Susan Frame is a Sumi-e master with a down-to-earth approach to art. She creates a class environment for learning complex art processes in simple steps. Her classes support individual learning and expression; focus and fun.
Basically, I adore her as a person and Sumi-e instructor.” –Sumi-e: Colorful Hibiscus
