WBCA is seeking a passionate and skilled Filmmaking Teaching Artist. This contracted position offers an opportunity to teach a beginner-level filmmaking class, focusing on using smartphones as filmmaking tools, while also playing a key role in developing and implementing a 5-minute or less film festival. The ideal candidate will have a background in filmmaking, with the ability to inspire and guide participants in their creative journey.

Teaching Artists are independent contractors.

Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and teach age-appropriate curricula that cater to the specific needs and interests of youth, teens, and adults focusing on techniques and tips for creating films using smartphones or other accessible equipment. 
  • Collaborate with WBCA staff to develop class curriculum and instructional materials that cater to the needs and interests of participants.
  • Provide hands-on instruction and guidance to participants, covering topics such as storytelling, filming, techniques, editing, and post-production.
  • Assist WBCA staff in planning and organizing a 5-minute or less film festival.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in filmmaking, with skill in various aspects of the filmmaking process, including storytelling, filming techniques, editing, and post-production.
  • Previous teaching experience in filmmaking or related fields, with the ability to engage and inspire learners of all ages.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with WBCA staff and participants to facilitate a positive learning environment.
Compensation:
  • Consultancy: Total compensation for consultancy, advising, and program development is $3,000
  • Hourly teaching wage of $35
