Intro to Pastels

In addition to their enduring beauty (Degas was a fan!), pastels are a great way to fit art into your busy lifestyle. They are portable and dry, which means minimal cleanup and no dry time, so you can start and stop at any time. Because you hold the sticks in your hand, there is more control than using a brush, and you can learn about color theory without needing to know how to mix paint colors. This class is to introduce you to the pastel medium and materials, then you will have an opportunity to apply some basic mark-making techniques.
