Spend a morning taking advantage of our easy lift raku kiln and dry stack smoke kiln. Bring up to four bisque-fired pieces ready to fire using low-fire or raku glazes or naked crackle slip, and then decorate them with horse hair and feathers provided.
We will assemble a dry-stack brick kiln filled with tumble stack work surrounded by combustible material. This will be fired at the same time as the raku kiln but will need at least a day to cool before unloading. You may bring up to four additional pieces for this process.
Pieces must be bisqued, have glaze applied before the firing day, and be under 12 inches tall. Materials are available if you are signed up for a class or open studio time. There will only be one instructor for the firing, so be prepared to load and unload your own work. This is intended for people with some clay experience. Please wear natural fibers and full-coverage clothing. Close-toed shoes are required.
Attend the information session prior to firing if you have any questions and to review available materials.
