Mayumi Amada’s recent work is focused on eternity and the circle of life through the lens of mortality. She tries to find the meaning of ephemeral life, recognizing the lives of her foremothers as well as being conscious of future generations.

Water is an important sub-theme, since water is the basis of life on earth and has its own lifecycle. Recycled materials and a water theme led to environmental art, which has become an important aspect of her work. Amada often uses recycled materials such as plastic bottles and grocery bags to transform the plastics that pollute the environment into something beautiful.

Through her work, she is hoping that the viewers have a moment to think about their own lives, and are motivated to consider what they want to or need to do to lead a fulfilling life.
