Everybody Knows the Alphabet: An Abecedary in One Sitting
Instructor: Jan Johnson Drantell
Explore the ancient abecedary form—found in Semitic, Medieval, and Runic poetry—which is having a comeback in contemporary poetry. This alphabetical structure, starting each line with the next letter of the alphabet, invites endless creativity, offering concrete and playful ways to write about almost anything. Read examples, discuss techniques, collaborate on a group poem, and write or start one of your own. Bring a notebook or computer, and a pen or pencil. Bring a lunch.
