Lecture: Exploring the Arts: Animation in Classic Hollywood
Instructor: Steve Schroer
Shortly after pictures began to move, artists figured out how to make them without pointing a camera at reality. This talk will sketch the history of American animation from its inception into the 1960s. We will pay attention to the big two—Disney and Warner Brothers—but also consider smaller players, including Fleischer Studios, Walter Lantz, Terrytoons, Jay Ward, and Hanna-Barbera.
