“This exhibition brings together a group of dedicated artists who have studied with me over a number of years. It is both a culmination and a beginning—a celebration of their commitment to sustained practice and an invitation to witness the evolution of their individual voices. Throughout our time working together, each artist has engaged deeply with process, inquiry, and the challenges of developing a personal visual language. What unites them is not a single aesthetic or technique, but a shared rigor—a willingness to show up, take risks, and grow through the act of making. This show honors that journey. It reflects the many quiet hours spent in the studio, the conversations, breakthroughs, and even the setbacks that are so integral to creative growth. More than a student exhibition, this is a presentation of mature, thoughtful work that stands on its own—grounded in discipline and enlivened by curiosity. As a mentor, it has been a privilege to witness these artists come into their own. I am proud to introduce their work to you, and excited for what lies ahead in each of their evolving practices.”

Lisa Fertig

Lisa Fertig moves between different worlds, from realism to abstraction. Her way of working oscillates between intuitive painting, representations of reality and sometimes a mixture of both. Lisa is inspired by light and her surroundings, but above all, she wants her paintings to convey her feelings. Lisa has been teaching at WBCA since 2010. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries, the design trade, corporate collections and public art.

“My paintings are expressions of my life experience— everything that has touched and moved me along a path to the latest work.”
