Instructor: Awa Mally

In this introductory class, we will explore the fundamentals of photography. We’ll focus particularly on the function of a camera, lighting, composition, focus and depth of field. By learning these fundamental skills, we will begin building your individual artistic style to ensure that your work is a unique representation of you, the goal of which is to produce photoshoots from inspirations such as personal narratives and moodboards. This introductory class is aimed at teaching you how to be a successful artist. Students will get to work under the guidance of a professional artist, in the gallery space where Awa Mally’s work will be exhibited. Most importantly, it’s going to be fun!

Bring to class: Camera (phone, tablet, or digital camera) if you can’t access one, a camera will be provided, App: “Profoto Control” on IOS or Droid, note-taking materials.


Date/Time: 4 Mondays, February 7-28, 4:00-6:00 PM (4:00-4:30 flex independent work time, 4:30-6:00 instruction)
