In this class, you will learn the basic qualities of two kinds of art media that are relatively new. Acrylic ink is a very versatile liquid paint medium and polystyrene is a plastic surface not commonly used for fine art painting. You will literally manipulate the paints with fingers (as well as brushes) to create a small, but vibrant panoramic landscape painting. The painting technique is deceptively simple to begin, but leads to sometimes
surprising complex images. The instructor will supply all materials, and in case you are concerned about getting paint on your hands, don’t worry! We will use protective gloves and rags for a clean adult finger-painting experience. Class is limited to six, register early!

Tuition: $350 Member/$438 Non-Member
Age/Level: Adults, All Levels

From ancient times to the present, symbols are a part of our communication both verbally and visually. Everywhere we look, we are aware of the symbolism in our lives. This course focuses on the daily symbols (ex. street signs) and the more meaningful symbols (love, joy, family) important to us. The exercises will be geared toward non-realistic paintings as you find your own vision of creative painting. Join in on the fun of this unique approach to your artful life. Artists will work on separate paintings in each morning and afternoon session. Past experience is helpful; however, an open, experimental and “anything goes” attitude is the best. Critique is a part of each session. All media and all levels of artists are welcome.
