Explore basic hand-building and wheel-throwing skills with this beginner/ intermediate course. Focus on learning to make different shapes using the wheel or hand-building skills like pinching, coiling, and slab building. Use your shapes to create utilitarian pottery or sculptural forms. Bring your ideas for specific forms you’d like to learn to make. Class will offer demonstrations and individualized instruction. No clay experience necessary. Materials are included.

Paint! Sip! Chat! Have Fun! No experience necessary. It’s relaxing and FUN. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and some light snacks while you paint. One complimentary glass per person is provided by the instructor. You are welcome to bring additional wine for the rest of the evening. Mary will demonstrate and walk you through the process of creating your own painting; how to mix colors, what brush stroke to use etc…everything you need to know to complete your own piece of art. The image, 16” X 20” canvas and all of your painting supplies are included. If you prefer to use your own paint brushes, feel free to bring them. Although there will be a few aprons available; you are welcome to bring a smock or apron to protect your clothing.

This is an ongoing class where you can jump in when your schedule permits as each lesson plan will have a different focus.

This is a class for those with either little or no experience or for those with experience that want to pick up tips they might have missed. Learn the skills that are fundamental to painting so that your imagination won’t be restricted later. Drawing techniques for measuring proportion and composing, color mixing tricks, an introduction to the different kinds of brushes and how to use them, and several different easy methods to developing a painting.

This class will be taught in sections, each new topic building upon the last, starting with the most basic skills in the fall and advancing to more exciting levels of painting by the end of spring. Each topic will be demonstrated so you can see how it’s done before you try it yourself.
