Location: Zac Spates Pottery Studio
Woodfire your pottery with Zac Spates at his beautiful, newly built pottery studio 25 minutes east of White Bear Lake in Hudson, Wisconsin. Class participants will learn how to load and fire Zac’s small anagama wood kiln. Participants can continue with their regularly scheduled classes (or take Tuesday Evening Clay with Zac) to create the work to be fired. The class will meet two months before the firing to see Zac’s kiln/studio and to discuss clay and glaze surfaces, wadding techniques, etc. in preparation for the firing. The loading and firing occurs over a Friday-Sunday weekend, and the kiln will be unloaded the following weekend. While it is not required to be onsite for the entire firing and unloading, participants are encouraged to help as much as they are able. No wood fire experience necessary.
