Orchids and irises are both flowers with wonderful shapes and delightful buds that make a beautiful flower composition. You will have dozens of photos to choose from for your paintings. Complementary colors, values, and textures will enhance the paintings. There will be demonstrations in all aspects of painting the colorful orchids and shapely iris, as well as individual instruction and evaluation.

Painting Birds in Watercolor

Learn to paint birds in watercolor using a three-step approach, focusing on shapes and values. You will learn some basic bird anatomy to make them realistic, and learn how to model form and create the feeling of feathers. You will also learn how to create the backgrounds that will show the bird in its environment. Work from your own photos or instructor photos provided.

Hand Sewing Leather 201- Tote Bag and Laptop Case

Time: Thursday, August 29, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Age/level: Adults and teens 12+, 101 or other hand-sewing experience is strongly recommended.
Please bring reading glasses if you need them

This advanced leather-working class will build on your sewing skills, allowing students to create a larger, more complex project. Students will work from custom patterns while being guided through the basics of leather design and construction including the skills necessary to design their own goods. Project options include a tote bag, cross body purse, 13” laptop case or 15” laptop case. You will be required to choose your project at signup but a variety of leather choices for each project will be available at the beginning of class. Previous hand-sewing (saddle stitch) experience is strongly recommended. While the basics will be covered, the more experience you have, the happier you will be with your finished project. Let’s go on a fun Photographic Safari around town and learn to use your iPhone/iPad camera . In this class you will learn tips and tricks of using your camera, better composition, tuning an image, cropping, filters, frames, the most useful photography apps and more. We will take photos either outside or in the studio with Still Life setups, and then use the editing app, Snapseed. This is the “go to app” for most photographers and it is free. Bring your device with Snapseed downloaded on to it from the App Store. Come ready to play with your images. IOS Apple only. Sorry no Android, Galaxy etc.
