Introduction to Watercolor

Sylvia Benson

Finding success in working with watercolor includes learning the basics. Sylvia will describe in detail the materials used in watercolor paintings and how the water and pigment work together on the paper. The class also involves learning brush techniques, mixing colors, graying colors or knocking down the intensity, methods for producing textures, doing value studies, and discussing what makes a good composition. Use a viewfinder to choose an eye-catching composition that can be painted in a larger abstract version, illustrating high, medium, and low key value. Curious? Join us to experience, enjoy, and relax while learning.
