Jim Clark is an award winning draughtsman, painter, and sculptor, as well as a teaching artist and curator. He received his undergraduate art degree at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, an MFA at Vesper College, in addition to study at Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne and at the Academie de Port-Royal in Paris.
His belief in the communicative powers of art shapes his teaching philosophy. He is an enthusiastic instructor who excels at helping students reveal their potential.
His work explores the mysteries of emotional reality at the nexus of mark, form, and material: a layered record of memory’s foundations marked by fresh observational immediacy. In addition to his personal expressive drawing, painting, and sculpture, he illustrates independent comic books, including Colliders and Henri L’Ouest.
