Soojin Choi was born in South Korea in 1991. In 2010, she moved to the United States to study Craft/Material Studies and Painting/ Printmaking as a double major at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. She continued her study at Alfred University in Alfred, NY to pursue a MFA degree in Ceramics from 2016 to 2018. During her time as a student, she had various types of group exhibitions in different states including Virginia, Pennsylvania, California, Rhode Island, and New York. Currently, she is an Emerging Artist Resident at Northern Clay Center located in Minneapolis, MN with Anonymous Artist Studio Fellowships.
Her work has transformed the fundamental content of an object and space into fascinating elements with different arrangements into both two- and three-dimensions. By repeatedly layering flat and spatial objects, she invites viewers to confusing and ambiguous moments of perception.
