Stone Sculpture

Scott Malcolm
Stone sculpture is one of the oldest and most fundamental vehicles for human expression. From Stonehenge to Michelangelo’s David, to the soft sensual forms of Henry Moore, stone has been used by men and women to express the mysteries of the human experience reaching back to long before recorded human history. This Stone Sculpture open studio will be held indoors using hand tools on the “soft” stone of your choice. We welcome experienced sculptors who desire to work in community as well as beginners. Small pieces of stone and rudimentary tools along with basic use and safety instruction will be provided to beginners free of charge. Returning students will have the opportunity to build their own custom work table and continue working and developing stone projects while beginning to accumulate their own tools. Small pieces of high quality alabaster will be offered for sale to interested students. Class is open to 6 new students; all returning students are welcome.
