Katie Bosley received her BFA in Ceramics from the University of Florida and is currently a resident artist at Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis. She has interned at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana and Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, New York, and a studio assistantship at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Her ceramic vessels combine double walled forms with elaborate carved designs, pierced exteriors, and reflect her love of repetition and symmetry.
I’ve always been drawn to art with layers of visual complexity. I find beauty in repetition and symmetry, and enjoy getting lost in the details. My surface decoration reflects my love of the tight geometric designs of Islamic tiles, the grandeur of rib-vaulted cathedral ceilings, and the graceful curves of art Nouveau. A combination of suspended interiors and pierced exteriors to add to the depth and complexity of my pieces. Constructing forms that push the limits of both the material and my abilities, keeps my practice fresh.
