Collage Animals
In this class we will be inspired by the collage art of picture book illustrators Eric Carle and Leo Leonni. From caterpillars to butterflies, chameleons to brown bears, we will paint creative papers, then cut and glue them into critter creations of our own choosing.

Clay Face Mug/Bowl
Make a functional mug or bowl for your hot chocolate or soup. You’ll use handbuilding techniques for the mug and tools to create texture and details. Fired projects will be ready to pick up approximately two weeks after class.

All About Labyrinths  
The labyrinth is a walking path that leads you to its center with no dead ends but with lots of twists and turns! We will map out our route to the labyrinth and use a compass to guide us. We will learn how to draw labyrinths and make a finger labyrinth to bring home.

4-Panel Comics
Learn the tricks of the trade to make your own comic strips, just like the ones in the Sunday funnies. Ideas will be discussed and story lines will be drawn out. Completed comics can be in black and white line, grey scale, or colored using a variety of mediums.

Rag Weaving
Learn the basics of textiles weaving while up-cycling colorful fabrics. We will make a simple loom and string it with twine. Choosing from a selection of reclaimed fabric, students will weave a rag placemat, learning all steps in the weaving process.

Wood Animalitos
In some parts of Mexico, artisans create wooden carvings of animals which they paint with bright colors and patterns. We will work with lots of wood scraps and pre-cut shapes to make our own animal sculptures which we will paint and decorate.

Concrete Poetry
Get ready to be messy making concrete poetry! We’ll start by brainstorming and creating our poetry or phrases. Then we’ll sketch and design a concrete display of the words. Using letter stamps and decorative pieces pressed into colored concrete, we’ll write our words in stone. Bring plastic gloves, apron, and eye protection.

Exploring Zentangle Inspired Art with Animal Shapes
If you like to doodle and draw this class is for you. We will learn how to make some cool new patterns that are combined into a small work of art. The process is very easy, relaxing and fun. We will use animal stencils to create a decorated zoo. Come and be surprised and delighted by the designs you create.

Button Art
Create a design or scene on felt using a wide variety of button sizes and colors. You will make a plan by laying out the design and then attach the buttons using fabric glue. You may bring a shirt, vest or other garment of sturdy fabric or stiff paper to back your design if you choose. If you are experienced in sewing without instruction, you may also attach the buttons with needle and thread.

Creative movement: Carnival of the Animals
If you have ever jumped around pretending to be a kangaroo, stomped like an elephant, or wanted to fly like a bird, come be part of our animal parade. Using the musical suite The Carnival of Animals by Camille Saint-Saens as our inspiration, we will learn basic dance moves and create our own Carnival of Animals. No previous dance experience necessary. Wear sneakers and clothes you can easily move in. Parents and guests are invited to watch our animal carnival during the last 10 minutes of class.
