I started taking photographs at an early age, when my grandfather gave me a simple Kodak Brownie when I was still living in England. I still have those images today. Since that time I have always wanted to record global images of events, intricacies and patterns of our world that create emotions for the viewers. My training in photography has been of a self educating nature as my background
has always been in business and managing people. In the last 4 years I have exhibited at various galleries and have undertaken professional customized photography and have sold stock images, prints and framed photographs of people, outdoors, farming, sailing, worldwide images.

“I have had a lifelong interest & love of art, but it was only after my retirement from 3M in ’94 that I was able to devote time to painting. I took classes for several years from local art teachers & am a member of the White Bear Center for the Arts & the Northstar Watercolor Society. My work has been shown at the Lakeshore Players Theater, the White Bear Lake
and Mahtomedi Senior Center’s, The Elk River Arts in Harmony, Mears Park Center and the Northstar Water Color Society Exhibit.”
“My subject matter varies: I like to paint landscapes in “Plein Aire”, still life’s, flowers & the occasional portrait. Many paintings are scenes , either painted on site, or from photograph’s taken on my travels. Most of my work so far has been in Watercolor, but I have been experimenting recently with new styles & other materials.”

It seems as though I came into this world taking mental pictures of everything. On a simple trip to the grocery store, I’d often see things that others didn’t. I finally purchased a Nikon One Touch point & shoot camera and began to capture on film, that which caught my eye. Through trial and error, studying of other photographers’ work and taking classes at the
White Bear Center for the Arts, I am learning and growing as an artist. I simply love the art of photography and continue to look for more “photo ops” in my daily routine.
At first glance, my photographs appear simple. However, each is much more than just a snapshot. It is my hope that the viewer will look at one of my photos and see what it was about that image that drove me to pull over, get out of the car, and run to take a photograph of a twisted tree before the sun slid behind a cloud.
I am a current member of the White Bear Center for the Arts and the Bloomington Art Center. My photographs have been shown at several exhibits including Marshall’s Southwest Minnesota Sound of Summer Competition, the Bloomington Art Center’s Juried Art Show, the Northern Lights Juried Art Show and the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Competition. In 2004, I received Honorable
Mention for a photograph taken with that old, duct-taped Nikon One Touch!
