Australia is a far-off land with lots of unique animals and landscapes. We will create art inspired by this interesting place in the style of the Aborigines and modern artists. We will use a variety of mediums and techniques to make art you can be proud of.

Lightwear!
Explore electricity and sewing by making light-up accessories. Sew together a light circuit with conductive thread and make a light-up band for your arm or ankle. Make switches with conductive fabric to turn your creation on and off. Embellish your unique piece of textile art!

Textile Collage
Similar to Hmong story and flower cloth, we will create designs using fusible fabric cut into shapes and objects. Instead of stitching, we will cut our fusible fabrics and iron them in place, creating one-of-a-kind textile pictures. Hand stitching may be added as desired.

Create a Play: Zootopia
From the largest elephant to the smallest shrew, the city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis where various animals live and thrive. Zootopia is the place where all animals can be who they want to be with no judgment. But evil is on the rise, bringing fear over the city of Zootopia. Who will stop it and save the populace? Work together and perform your very own play on the last day of class at 2:30 PM.

Metal Tooling
Learn about Mexican art and the techniques of metal tooling. Students will emboss several aluminum squares and then turn them into wall art by attaching them together with beads and wire.

Learn about Austrian artist Gustav Klimt while making art using many mediums. We will draw, paint, and make prints in the style of Klimt using lots of metallic materials and loads of pattern.

Cartooning Animals
Have fun learning how to cartoon animals. Many animals will be covered, along with finishing techniques and placing the animals in a funny setting. Learn how to draw everything from full-bodied animals to just a funny head and expression.

Japanese Origami & Notan Designs
Learn two Japanese art forms which use paper to create intricate designs. Working in both 2D and 3D we will create artworks which explore paper folding and cutting techniques. This is a beginning class, no prior origami experience is necessary.

We will create an animal head using tag board and newspaper, then add color with torn scrapbook papers for an interesting 3D wall hanging with lots of color and pattern.

Picasso Style Animals using Mixed Media

Stuffed Creatures
